According to Thucydides, the Persians blamed everything on Paris. They said if your wife gets "kidnapped" she probably just ran out on you and it's not worth tracking her down.
The illiad is in an ancient ancient form of greek from the bronze/iron age but Koine greek is just the later variation of it in the Hellenistic period do you mean like reading the new testament?
It's more than just a later variation. By about 100 AD the Greeks were struggling to understand the Iliad. By now, that language is pretty much incomprehensible to modern Greeks.

Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us—by that God we both adore—
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore.”

I don’t write poems, I don’t even like them very much. And who needs words with the stars up in the sky?
