Never read anything by him because he's too hyped up.

/r/fantasy always has him in their lists when some r-slurred Redditor asks for "recommendations".

Trash.

The Way of Kings is actually great and worth the hype one of the best book endings as well, can just read that and ignore the rest of the series, quality goes down in the later books. Also that book doesnt have much if any of this 'cringe' writing style.

worth the hype

I refuse to believe that.

He's really compelling whenever he writes about suffering and war. The Emperor's Soul, a short story, is legitimately good. Other parts of his writing is incredibly cringe, especially anything to do with romance or teenagers, he turns it into YA slop.

It's truly unfortunate that the only options for interpersonal relationship writing in fantasy are "Twilight-tier prude Mormon M'lady cringe" or "utterly degenerate mega-coomerism"

Yeah, his most popular series is mostly about suffering and war, and the parts not about that aren't great.

Not to mention most of the visible fanbase is incredibly r slured.
