Sunset found her squatting in the grass, groaning. Every stool was looser than the one before, and smelled fouler. By the time the moon came up, she was pooping brown water. The more she drank the more she shat, but the more she shat, the thirstier she grew.
The first book is good and i liked the second but at some point you just have 50 character threads happening at the same time and you barely care about any of them

I've read every ASOIAF material there is including the short stories and lore books.
His sci-fi stuff is overlooked for ASOIAF even though he was primarily a sci-fi writer most of his career. Lots of good stuff there. "Sandkings" is one of the best short stories ever IMO
Some theorise Asshai has a nuclear fallout (chernobyl x1000) that's why they wear masks .. or storms end being an ancient tidal system.. or oily black stone being plastic
We're never going to get an end to Ice & Fire are we? Dude spends all his time taking pictures with people and beer-bonging butter. His heart is going to give out before he ever puts pen to paper.

I'm bought in. Read through the 5 ASoiaF books a couple times and all the spin-offs once. But I get people's frustration. As with most things I try and keep my expectations low and my hopes high.
I read a Wild Cards book and decided it isn't for me. The stories differ wildly in quality and because it's so many different writers there not being a consistent voice or tone makes it hard to get invested

i love ASOIAF but tbh i already wrote my own ending in my head like 6 years ago and moved on. it was extremely influential on me when i was a teenager though. like many nerds of a certain age it definitely made me into the genre fiction spergé that i am today.

Weird take. Normies usually love the third book the most. Patricians love the fourth book the most.

Do you think ASOIAF is sci fi?
Jump in the discussion.

No? That's why I said his sci-fi stuff is overlooked because people primarily pay attention solely to ASOIAF

Sandkings rules. The message is a bit too on the nose, and all of the non-sandking characters are iffy, but the premise is just too fun.
