For the writers in here, what's the most embarrassing thing you've ever written?
I'll go first:
Back when I was a braindead teenager, I postponed my senior capstone for an entire semester.
I originally started designing a whole table top game. This would have included box art, a resource book with illustrations, tables, the whole 9 yards.
But I was laughed at by 3 fat they/thems when I presented that idea.
So I wrote an awful novella about lesbians going to prom in the last 2 weeks of the project. I admittedly hamed it up for extra points by padding out the plot with needless identity politics. But I got a B+ and multiple classmates said it was the best thing they'd ever read because it spoke to them as

in 8th-9th grade i used to write really bad slice of life zombie apocalypse OC, if that makes sense.
like everyone would be trying to survive and stuff but at the same time they would fall in love and have secks and stuff every once in a while i’ll come across some of the old papers lying around and i’ll spend the next 2 hours trying not to

I did something similar in 7th-8th
Mine was a slice of life in a fantasy apocalypse where all fantasy creatures existed alongside people
Including vampires, mermaids, nagas, werewolves, demons, etc
This was a project I embarked on with multiple people.
We would completely retcon the setting every couple of weeks with the same characters as different creatures to keep things interesting

see that’s not that bad at least you had some collaborators to bear the burden of the cringe
mine was like self-insert and i would always make up for the lack of attention i got from women at the time by making my character a who had multiple girlfriends and never had any difficulty with anything

yes and i always wrote the female characters to be my idealized version of what i thought i liked in a woman. and of course the main character was nothing like me even though it was technically a self-insert. much male egomaxxing and little to no meaningful introspection ensued.
