!bookworms do you ever do this?

Pretty sure Amazon just resells the books as used, for a cheaper price

You'd think the anti capitalist redditors would look fondly on this

Just pirate everything to your Kindle and you don't have to bother with returns, and still keep the book

I have like 17,000 books on ecology and WW2. All from mass torrent packages, libgen, archive.org (for very old books), Library of Congress...I didn't pay anything.

I'll never delete them because what else am I going to use all the storage space on?

I'm considering resorting to extreme measures, like getting a prison sentence on purpose, just so I can be locked in a small room with nothing to do most of the day except read shit.

it needs multiple reads. :talk2hand:

swan song needs more, though, since it's the superior version of the story.

god i unironically love going through what is basically peoples trash looking for books.

i found the entire the survivalist series at a flea market once and it was the best day of my life. the guy could have grifted the shit out of me because when i asked "how much for the whole box?" i was willing to pay any price he said no questions asked.

seriously

why go through all the trouble of ordering and returning the book? just download an epub/mobi, r-slur! you'll have the book faster and won't have to do anything other than click your mouse like 3 times.

Buying something in bad faith, knowing that you'll return it, is theft.

:marseylaugh:

Definitely welfare behavior but the buying something in bad faith is funny

Super scummy. People are cheap fricks apparently.

One thing is being cheap and buy things on sale or not wanting to buy stuff, but this is beyond being cheap, this is pretty much stealing.

You must consoom often and you must buy stuff at full price or you're just a cheap cabagebutt :marseysoyjak:

I agree that this is unethical and disappointing. How to handle it going forward really depends on how much you value your friendship.

Lmao redditors keep finding more and more absurd reasons to throw their friendships away :marseyemojirofl:

You caused a 0.0000000000001% dip in Amazon's EPS

Basically a fricking Nazi. Friendship over.

Then they'll post about how lonely and suicidal they are because everyone in their life was a toxic abuser so they had to cut off contact :marseyhammersnoo:

Jump in the discussion.

That's an extra 0.0000000000001% of Amazon's revenue that could've been donated to trans charities.

This is no laughing matter

Jump in the discussion.

Purchasing an item with the intent to use it and return it for full price is probably technically stealing, and isn't at all comparable to just waiting for an item to go on sale before purchasing it.

I mean it's Amazon so it doesn't really matter. I know people who will buy a phone on Amazon, return a literal fricking brick, and be like "yeah i dunno there was a brick in the box when i got it :marseyteehee: ". In comparison, this book thing is irrelevant. And even then, I didn't cut all contact with the people doing this... although I'll make note of it and never lend them anything lol.

Jump in the discussion.

I avoid this moral dilema by simply pirating any book I find interesting. Why bother with grey areas when you could just steal it? :marseyconfused:

I agree that it's shit behaviour but the 'it's no big deal they have insurace :soyreddit: ' crowd on reddit has no right to complain about it.

I agree that this is unethical and disappointing. How to handle it going forward really depends on how much you value your friendship.

At that point piracy is better for the author. :marseyindignant:

why, so the next post can be "my friend pirates indie books" & they can all cry about it

so lame and gay
