!bookworms do you guys occasionally spend more money to get pretty editions of books you like or want to read?

Pic related is from a hardcover edition of "The Origin of the Species" I found at the bookstore and loved. :marseydarwin:

I recently ordered a copy of Kafka's "The Trial" by the same publisher "Martin Claret".

Also, I think the Brazilian edition of the book "Vikings: Children of Elm and Ash" by Neil Price looks better than the American edition.

And this is the Brazilian by "CrĂtica" which I have. It's a paperback, but I still think it's pretty.

I don't generally buy nice copies of books I like, but I do like to buy older copies of some of the fantasy books I'm into. In general I don't like the look of the high quality fantasy or Sci-fi reprints because they look to clean and cool, the only one I actually like is the Folio ASOIAF. Instead I much prefer the look of the old school fantasy and Sci-fi art style, like Elric, Dune, and all of the Gene Wolfe books.

The other main reason that I don't buy nice copies a lot of the time, is that many of the books I'm interested in are very niche and hard to find a well kept copy in the first place. That or it was not popular enough to warrant a fancy copy. One of the exceptions are the Junji Ito collections, of which I have all but Uzumaki, and all of them are very nice.

I have a few other nice copies but they are mostly gifts, such as the Barnes and Nobles Lovecraft Collection and Divine Comedy, Penguin Clothbound copies of most of the Christian and Hellenistic classics, Romance of the Three Kingdoms(this was one of the few that I did buy for myself), Author's Illustrated copies of all three major middle earth books, and the really nice deluxe anniversary copies of the first three Dune books.

I want the Folio ASoIaF :marseycrusader: but I can't justify it. Juniper recently put out a new ASoIaF set that looks :marseyopera: better than their first one but idk if it's $300 :marseybux: good.
