To be fair, the Japanese do the zoo thing pretty well. I will never set foot in a Chinese zoo after being forced to visit them as a child. Apparently I cried because some butthole was throwing things at a lion and none of the staff thought it was their business to stop them. Then my mother frogmarched me out because I was "embarrassing her".
