I cant imagine not wanting this if you're going hiking in nevada, cali, utah, wyoming, colorado, arizona, the carolinas...

Ad was no different than the typical one for SUVs or pickup trucks doing things that 99% of their owners will never even attempt.
The idea that you can use it that way is way more important in the mind of its target consumer than the actual practicality of the feature.
