Specifically I'm tracking a few themes that are of consequence.
A big one: the proliferation of alt accounts. The problem at its root is not new, I know it well.
To have anything good, you have to also tolerate the (let's be charitable to bimothy) inane. This, the performance of inanity, is itself brilliant. I'm sorry but you must simply accept that bimothy is a spiritual [note: I considered 'memetic' instead of 'spiritual' but 'memetic' carries with it a cartesian knowing and spirituality contains only embodied being] descendant of King Krazy, this sort of zen koan pure 'empty troll.' It is good because it is nothing.
If you don't understand that, this place isn't for you. To empower the memetic construct with attention is to propagate it further. (In a certain way to explain a joke is to kill it dead but that rule doesn't really apply here in /h/meta.)
So this problem at its root is that the stuff that people are inclined to complain about is in fact stuff that is a necessary part of the ongoing writing project that is r drama.
All that said without the trimming force there is no art, and so we need to actually retire some topics. Actually I think this is understood. Like that topic today about kiwifarms really showed just how even the rightoids here need a course correction because they seem to have lost sight of this very simple fact:
Under any reasonable fair doctrine, The Washington Post could actually dox kiwifarms people -- not the site operater, the users themselves -- and this is just fair play. The people who are acting as if this is some immoral act don't really seem to understand morality at all. But they're just rageposting because it's tough to be a rightoid these days.
The time to strike is very near.

I do think you need a careful balance of shitposting and seriousposting to have a good internet forum. Too much seriousposting and everything gets incredibly stuffy and boring. Too much shitposting and everything gets predictably 'ironic' all the time.
