What exactly is the reason for making a hole, then? Afaict they're only so that people can filter them out, so a ghost filter would accomplish the same with less programming work

post it's quite a long journey all the way down to the bottom 
where

If you haven't already, install the vimium browser addon. It makes keyboard navigation much better as long as a site is accessible. aevann doesn't do much modern webshittery so the site is mostly useable without a mouse.
The most important keybinds are 'f' to select a link and 'j' and 'k' for scrolling

I'm so happy in the CongoJ_K_Ghoul 10mo ago #5764771 spent 0 currency on pingsIt has smooth scrolling, but I haven't tested it personally. They have a lot of overlap in functionality so it may not be worth it if you are already used to vimium, but I am impressed with it so far
