1. It's just a social media site now. rDrama users use rDrama to interact with other rDrama users on rDrama. Trolls, bait-ops, and raids are something we speak about in the past tense, as if people from /r/drama (few of which remain here) doing cool things years ago makes us cool now. I'm part of the problem, so instead of complaining about it anymore, I'll just leave.
2. I don't like the people here enough to want to be social with them. Dramneurodivergents are unfunny, unoriginal, and unintelligent, but are utterly convinced they're witty, radical free thinkers with IQs over 9000. You're MDEfugees crossed with SRDines. You've been breathing your own farts for so long, you're afraid to try a breath of fresh air. Every lolcow we get to sign up here says exactly this. Congratulations, we've trolled ourselves.
The site will be worse off without me. Good riddance.

things change
amerca will never be what it was in the 60s. probably never going back to the moon
the UK will never be what it was in the 1860s. they'll never manufacture anything ever again, they'll never be relevant on the world stage
its' all downhill
that's what this place is, isn't it? a space to watch the slow decline from a distance. as we steep under the shadows of great men.

I went and saw that orion capsule in houstn like 10 years ago nd all these years later
rember when jfk said "by the end of this decade" and we actually got it done??
that's the kind of country we will never again be
asuuming artemis ever does anything at all.. their roadmap shows almost another decade... nearly 30 years to do something we already did from scratch in 8 almost 60 years ago
like the high speed rail in CA its a joke. clowns in uniform pretending they can amount to a fraction of the competence and sheer force of will our grandparents had
did they fail to teach or did we fail to learn?

Artemis is supposed to do more than Apollo (30 days stays on the moon, reusable landers, establishment of a lunar base and testing technology for Mars missions like In situ resource utilization) but with the fraction of the price. Apollo was done in 8 years but back then NASA consumed 4.5% of the Federal Budget, today is not even 0.5%, plus the Apollo program wasn't made for permanent and sustainable lunar habitation, the program's goals were political (beating the Soviets in the Lunar race), that's why it was cancelled once it completed it's main objectives.
The first crewed Artemis flight is scheduled for next year, they'll not land and it will be more of an Apollo 8 mission but it's quite a jump from what was available in the 2000s. Maybe it's time to have more faith.

elon might do it thoughbiet
starlink is licherally changin the world in only a few years
fast low latency internet anywhere on the planet
the government wasted like $40 billion on broaband accessibility or whatever that did nothing and helped no one
which could've bought half the us pop. starlinks instead (or built their own constellation which they're doing anyway for the military)
not to mention their 900million dollar electric charging stations
if they get to the moon it will be on the back of spacX

The federal budget in 1970 was $1.6T in 2024 dollars. The 2024 budget is $4.5T, or 2.8X the 1970 amount. So. NASA's budget for Apollo was functionally closer to 3.2X today's budget (not 9X) but things also got easier in the last 55 years, technology-wise.
