I was an avid fisher when I was young. I'm from the midwest, so it was always freshwater sport fishing. I caught bass and pike every day in the summer. My uncles always told me they couldn't feel anything.

It wasn't until I moved to the ocean in my 30s that I learned they were dirty liars. I catch nothing but sea catfish. I hate these fricking r-slurs. They ruined fishing for me. They swollow whatever bait you put on the hook and yell at you the entire time you try and doctor the hook out of them. It's not worth it.

That sounds even more painful.

I'd like to go spear fishing. I like scuba and that seems more ethical in that it's a clean quick kill and you can target your prey. Ever try it?

I hate them so much. Spend 15 minutes of torment trying to save them for nothing. I really can't do shoreline fishing here anymore because it's all I've gotten.

When I first started here complaining locals would complain about catching puffers and sting rays, and that would even be worse for me because I love them.
