Yes, the "alphabet agencies" are all the same thing.
My dad probably "worked for the CIA" more than this guy did and you don't see me becoming a national level politician. There's hundreds of thousands or millions of Americans like that. I'm sorry if your's working at the sawmill in Buttfrick Hills, North Carolina or wherever wasn't exposed to the wider world, but don't imagine that all educated people were in the "Deep State".
