I was under the impression the majority of our microplastics come from polyester and other garbage synthetic fabrics. I have 6 milligrams of plastic in my brain rn let me drink out of a normal straw

Mcdonalds used to use around 50,000 tons of plastic straws per year.

Over 100,000,000 tons of foids fast fashion ends up in landfills.

tbh, the fuss over plastic straws distract from the bigger plastic polution contributors. Like in the example you gave, much of the "reduce, reuse, recycle" advocacy has been commandeered by the plastic producers themselves(big oil) to offset their liability for the problem unto the consumer generally, ehile the consumer on a micro and macro standpoint has the least power to change anything. This is important bc its not supposed to change, and they dont care abput our health or the environment bc were already in the midst of mass extiction(halocene extiction) and armageddon is right around the corner
