Its well known at this point that Turkey is in NATO purely to keep it's more egregious third world warmongering impulses in check so in that regard Turkey gets a bit of leeway as long as its not invading Greece or joining CSTO.
Turkey being in NATO is like when they move a special ed kid to a nornal class in hopes that he will learn to be less r-slurred but really all he does is distract the class and throw a chair when he gets overwhelmed.
