I have a cousin who went into teaching specifically to teach at schools on reserves in Canada. He quit after a year because of how depressing and hopeless it was. I actually think he might have gone back to try again at some other reserve but I haven’t talked to him in a while.
He’s good dude, it was really depressing to hear what he said about teaching there. From what he said, the biggest problems are drugs/alcohol (obviously) and parents just not giving a shit about getting their kids to school in the morning. Kids just don’t show up or will come in at noon for no reason.
