France struggles with "le wokeisme"

An interesting but not terribly dramatic piece on how France is dealing with woke bullshit imported from America. If nothing else, it's an excuse for me to post this under-appreciated Marsey:

I can't be too mad at the writer tbh, as he recognizes that american idpol is just as corrosive and divisive as its french counterpart/antithesis. French blindness to race and religion is admirable but also stupid; I'm not sure the government could even run a program of deradicalizing French Muslim youth because it breaches laïcité

>The key to healthy and sustainable social progress is understanding to what extent a potentially useful idea can be pursued before tipping over into self-defeating extremism

Thomas Chatterton Williams is one of the few non-r-slurs at The Atlantic.

Any good other pieces by him?

Interesting to see someone in current year + 8 admit something changed their views a bit but they then explain why they still hold on to their original opinion ( IE that american idpol is poison)

From a few days ago "Not Every Atrocity Is About White Supremacy".

He's allowed to be a little chuddy and advocate for values that were universal 20 years ago (a race-blind society, free speech, education, truth) because he's half black.

I have to admire him because if he didn't have any integrity he could be a race grifter and make twice as much money.

Yes, I think his background make him interesting from what you are saying and what I've read.

hey now, The Atlantic honestly has a lot of great writers. TCW, Conor Friedersdorf, Yair Rosenberg, others. By far the best mainstream outlet.

It seems like you have to be either really smart or really dumb to write for them. So yeah, I try to check it out every week because there's a lot of gems. But they're right next to mind-boggling r-sluration.
