This is mostly a symbolic gesture but it's a very significant one. It means they're not pariahs among the Arabs anymore.
When Egypt made peace with Israel they were expelled from the Arab League. It took a decade before they were let back in. It was a big event, where Egypt once again could assert itself in the region.
