Forgiving debt now guarantees that the same kind of debt will cost more in the future through infinite demand, forever expanding the shackles should you choose to forgive it again ad infinitum. Some leftists incl. Graeber have criticised debt as essentially a scam. This is particularly notable with the declining quality of education despite increasing student loans.

Personally, I'm pro giga-interest rate hikes from an accelerationist perspective (and also wanting to increase savings + when I inevitably lose my job, I can use unemployment figures as an excuse to sit on my butt and write. Dealing with inflation is also a bonus).

Debt is that scene where Gromit breathlessly puts down train tracks while sitting on the moving toy train 1 foot behind. Gromit and the train are capitalism.
