Teenager who died trying to convince :marseybong:doctors not to turn off life support can be named

The A-level schoolgirl from Birmingham suffered from a rare degenerative disease and was fully conscious and able to communicate, repeatedly telling doctors that she did not want to die. However, last month a Court of Protection judge said that she lacked the capacity to make decisions about her treatment amid reporting restrictions preventing Sudiksha, her family and the NHS Trust and medics treating her, from being identified.

So she says she doesnt want to die, so they declare incompetent so that they can ignore her request not to die, then they are able to :marseycensored: her name from the record so that it cannot be discussed.

I hear nothing butt bad news from the UK. I hope to never travel there as the weather seems awful too. George Orwell cpuld have never prwdicted what a :marseycryingclown:world bongland would become.

In August, Mrs Justice Roberts said Sudiksha lacked capacity to instruct her own lawyers and that decisions about her life and death should be taken by the court in her best interests.

Jesus christ is there another side to this? This seems too insane.

tbh there was probably some conflict between the parents and hospital staff that needlessly escalated. Something similar happened in Boston with a teenager named Justina Pelletier. The kid was stuck in a psych ward for over a year and her parents weren't allowed to seek outside medical opinions. The parent themselves were clearly off, but not so off to say they are engaged in Munchausen's by proxy.

People hear about things like this and are rightfully pissed but the stories I hear from my psych foid about going through lengthy court processes so they can make the guy flinging his shit at anyone who comes near and attacking people for no reason take his meds that have had him thanking the doctors for saving him multiple times is the more common experience. When things like this happen six new regulations are put in place, hospitals get more expensive to cover the costs(guess on if this patient was profitable) and we're still going to see another story like it in 6 months.
