Americucks re-elected GWB after 9/11, LMAO. Probably partly because they enjoyed the visceral thrill of having their military bomb a bunch of hapless third-worlders, and GWB sure gave them plenty of that.

If we dealt with a more existential external threat on a long term basis, we'd probably be demanding a better government whenever people died to that. It's not like New Yorkers spent a few decades watching out for rockets.
