If only, in the course of the past few thousand years of man's inhumanity to man, we had developed some kind of a system where militants would wear or display something to distinguish themselvs from non-combatants, to preserve the life of innocent persons.

Of course, such a thing would need to be standardized, to all look the same or at least similar, across all the different combatants in an organization. And it would need a catchy word to describe things that look similar to each other in accordance with a standard. Hmm. What would be the word to use for such a system of clothing or marks? Oh well obviously it's not worth the mental effort if the heroes of hamas havent done it.
