It's because each and every red-blooded Mexican chimps out if you even hint at the US getting involved.
The US recently arrested a former Mexican defense minister for being deep with the cartels. The Mexicans threw a tantrum and threatened to unleash a tsunami of migrants, forcing the US to release him. The proud Mexicanx would rather a drug lord continue to embezzle millions and massacre their people, than look weak to the gringos.
