“It won't impact my case at all. Our position is the same as it was last Friday: Scottie Scheffler didn't do anything wrong. We're not interested in settling the case. We will either try it or it'll be dismissed. It's very simple,” he said. “All the evidence that continues to come out just continues to support what Scottie said all along, this was a chaotic situation and a miscommunication and he didn't do anything wrong.”

lmao I know it's the defense lawyer so it's his job to say this shit but the excuse of "well it was chaotic therefore crimes could not be committed" is pretty r-slurred.

Theyre probably saying that due to the chaos the mayo lacked the mens rea(actual intent) to be guilty of a crime. I.e. just because the cop made a lawful order and he didnt follow the order, if they cant prove that he heard the order then they cant prove that he didnt follow the order volitionally. Not all crimes require mens rea, butt if this one does thats a pretty standard argument, butt idk IANAL

Right, but didn't he hop a curb onto the median to drive around a roadblock? I dunno to me I really don't think that can be done w/out intent.

He's rich (I think, if he's good at golf I assume he's rich) so I doubt he faces any actual consequences. His lawyer said they're not settling but I bet that's just posturing and I wouldn't be surprised if he settles down the road.

Hopping curbs/medians isnt automatically against the rules of the road(not arredtable oofenses any way) Truckers do that all the time and call it a hop on. Whem emergency vehicles are in motion some might argue that is a reason to hop on the median(basic example being an ambulance is behind you and you simply hopping on the median would let them pass. )

Your statement isn't technically wrong - there can be valid reasons to hop a curb. However, I think it's pretty clear given the situation that he should not have done that. He didn't need to let any emergency vehicles pass and he clearly wasn't doing it to get out of the way anyways, he was doing it to drive around the scene of a fatal car crash.

he was doing it to drive around the scene of a fatal car crash.

...and not block the flow of traffic. Without a sign or some other express directive(him actually hearing the traffic cop giving hima lawful order) a reasonable person wouldnt know ehat to do, besides move past the scene and get out of the waybof first responders.

pretty clear given the situation that he should not have done that.
