This post combines a couple of my favorite things: musical theater and the January 6th insurrection. Queer theatre kids and Trump supporters share a certain affinity for flamboyant "bad guy" characters. After all, when you feel marginalized, it can be fun to own it and be the villain. There's a sense of empowerment in just letting go, and the thearte is a place of heightened emotion where we can all run wild. Maybe one day, therate kids and Trump supporters can make peace. But probably not.
