Battlestar Galactica was good for the first season or two, then it became garbage. Spoiler: Space Jesus made everything happen, at the end of show they all just agree to give up their technology (including medicine) and live in huts with Africans.

Voyager was mid at best. It was an incredibly lazy Star Trek series that played it safe with their premise. A crew blended between Starfleet officers and criminals stranded on the other side of the galaxy and forced to work together should have been interesting.

I always viewed it as an attempt to return to the old TOS style of space exploration, especially since DS9 wasn't as well received.

Battlestar Galactica's influence on modern Star Trek, like Discovery, shows acceptance of Moore's ideas.

Kill Ronald D. Moore. Oh, hang on...

The most notable callback to Battlestar Galactica in Discovery season 1 was the revelation that Commander Ash Tyler (Shazad Latif) was actually a Klingon-Human hybrid sleeper agent.

Also, the charming, villainous Captain Gabriel Lorca (Jason Isaacs) was not unlike the vainglorious Gaius Baltar (James Callis) in Battlestar Galactica. Baltar and Lorca were both complex villains that dreamed of attaining powerful positions, regardless of the human cost.

So the entire argument is that Galactica and STD both happen to share a couple of standard fiction tropes?

Good God, ScreenRant is trash.

Frick you, Rick Berman and Brannon Braga.

Voyager had a great concept: A Starfleet ship that gradually broke down and became a ramshackle operation because they were so far from the Federation, but Berman and Braga killed it after the second season and it became a mid Star Trek. That said, it has my favorite cast up there with TNG and DS9.

A bit of behind the scenes trivia: Garrett Wang, who played Ensign Kim, was a huge stoner who would typically show up to the set high.
