I think the first explanation is probably right, it feels random because its primey, very unround, and because its unwieldy in base 10 it doesnt show up often in day-to-day, unlike 90. Yeah a lot of the reasons he gave to why 37 is a special number were kinda forced IMO. The only thing going for it that is special mathematically is that 1/e is ≈ 37%. There are so many ways you can categorize primes that it's not really special imo
