Oklahoma is a dramatic state. Not a lot goes on here so our politicians get bored.
We have an insane governor who if we were more in the spotlight would have DeSantis level of chuddery. Today though, we are gonna deep dive into his State Superintendent pick, Ryan Walters.
Oklahoma ranks 49th in education, just barely edging out Mississippi for most r-slurred state.
Google says NM but I'm pretty sure it's MS either way. Very dumb.

Ryan Walters was elected in November of 2022 and came out swinging. He ran on the culture war train, promising to fight woke ideology and getting rid of "radical leftists" (pro-tip, there's no such thing as a radical leftist in Oklahoma). https://www.kosu.org/politics/2023-07-24/walters-threatens-tulsa-public-schools-with-accreditation-ding-after-religious-freedom-rally
Even some of our more right wing politicians wondered if 37 year old Walters was the right man for the job.
So Walters is currently waging a war on our public schools (I mean, good, we are ranked fricking 49th lmaooo) and people don't like it.
He also doesn't like teachers. And likes to call them terrorists.
Much to the surprise of no one Oklahoma pays their teachers like 30k a year. Masters degrees bumps you up about 40k . While our government doesn't respect teachers general public sentiment is they need to get paid more. Some people get upset when Walters calls teachers terrorists.
Like any good republican he threatens to sue the federal government for trans shit
When there was some minor backlash over a public prayer, our hero decides to wage war against the entire Tulsa Public School system (The second biggest, and only relevant city in Oklahoma after OKC)
idk what an F list is but it's probably bad
Parents/Educators seethe at our boi for being Radical Right Wing.
Our man drops some fantastic Propaganda against trans and teachers'
Redditors continue to call everything antisemitic
Even reading rainbow breh doesn't like Walters
The Tulsa race riot was a massacre of "Black Wall Street" a thriving district in Oklahoma populated by rich black people that was razed to the ground by angry whites. Although a huge part of a heritage this was NOT taught in schools for decades and decades. Now that we teach it, people are mad. Walters is mad it's being taught, black reading man is mad that he's mad.
Redditors also mad that people can report shit that happens in the classroom? idk lmao
"I have instructed my staff to hold teachers accountable for violating state law"

Walters says "no porn in schools!". this is controversial for some reason

X-users mad.
(Kids do deserve better than 49th in education ya)
Ok sorry hope this wasn't too boring. Great guy though hope he makes it to the fed.

Lavar Burton, Tim Russ, and George Takei are three Trek actors I can really do without. Even their characters in the show are basically irrelevant.
Except maybe Tuvok, but in typical Voyager fashion, they didn't capitalise on it, or give him a character arc.

On TNG the writers never really figured out what to do with Geordi and about half the characters. As for Sulu, when he was gone for half a season to do The Green Berets they just gave his lines to other characters and you don't even notice he's gone.

Sulu was there as "the Japanese one" in the same way Geordi was there as "the disabled one," before Star Trek decided you could just have more space aliens to make the crew seem diverse.

He had some personality, like when the drink virus made him charge around shirtless with a rapier. But yeah, all the characters except the top 3 were interchangeable most of the time.
