I got a letter yesterday from the IRS saying that I never cashed my $4,000 refund last year and they're going to send me a new cheque.

I'm not rich by any means but holy heck is it nice to be at a point that I can just not notice a couple thousand dollars was forgotten.

Poors will never experience that.

Are you being pedantic about "couple" vs "few" vs "several"?

Yea I've been within $100 either way for 6 years now. Don't give daddy govt a free loan. Save that money for yourself even if you just use it for CDs or TBills right now with rates

I used to work for a finance company and we just randomly discovered a person who had taken out a 20k loan, paid it back over 5 years and never actually cashed the loan cheque. We did a search and found 3 more people who did the same thing. We tried to contact them to give them their 20k but two we couldn't even find.

Well we spent the entirety of this year's return on another cruise, now that they don't require vaccinations. Haven't been on one since our honeymoon.

With this surprise 4k, yesterday I bought a portable AC for mom's camper and one of those fancy M18 lawnmowers. Once I figure out how investing works, I'll do something with the remaining.
