Idk why I'd argue with that comment from /u/acentooate; they're right. People who fall for the “perks” meme are fricking r-slurred.
I had this foid at work who I sort of disliked bc she was naive. One time a coworker said that junior pay at our company is low, and said foid responded that we get nice benefits. Our health insurance & 401K match are not good, and the free food and company parties add up to maybe $2K annually if you were to pay for the same thing out of pocket. But people really fall for the “perks” like ice cream trucks and a bougie company party.

Some people need to learn the hard way about ping pong tables and a beer fridge. They'll get fricked over eventually, look for another job and wonder why they were so stupid to fall for the office perks meme.

I'd argue they're correct in this instance. But you have to know your worth, they'd argue that it should apply equitably, as in the looser on Reddit all day deserves that $5000 bonus more than the closer who makes all the sales. They've regularly argued that meritocracy isn't a thing. They're a gigasucc who deletes all their posts after a day or so. They are a coward.

If you want a meritocracy go into sales, one of the few places where you get paid your worth.
Otherwise you need to start your own company

I've seen it in other fields. You have to be competitive and stomach risk taking. Both of which are antithetical to the redditor. The people who get where they are by nepotism or networking, generally get found out and washed out once they get past front line manager. Unless they're working for a family business, then all bets are off.

I'm not complaining that they exist, I'm complaining about the people who view them as a suitable alternative to higher compensation. If you're smart you'll negotiate a higher pay and then the perks really are like a cherry on top, but others let perks placate them to stay in mediocrity.
