My parents took out a loan and bought a jeep back in 2019 and now they don’t drive it because of the gas prices. My dad does Uber for extra money and says that it would be better if he buys a hybrid to save on gas.
Also whenever I bring up budgeting he hits me with the “it’s not that simple” talk

I think you should pay out of pocket for your dad and mom to sit down with a financial planner or an accountant, a well-reviewed one who charges by the hour (avoid salesmen who will try to sell your parents investments and make money on commission).
I brought up talking to a financial advisor but my dad told me “what is he gonna tell me that I don’t know” .I even offered to pay for the session. Today is my last attempt to try and help him. After this I’m not helping

What kind of keep costs 50k? These people are poor and decide to buy what must be one of the most expensive jeep models? And then instead of selling it they want to take out a loan on another car? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Even Wranglers are absurdly overpriced. Stereotypically, every rich sorority girl gets her dad to buy her. I imagine this dad is of the same Boomer phrenology.
That's why Ford makes the Bronco now. Jeep must make Porsche Cayenne Turbo-tier profit margins on those things.

I did a comparison of our Bronco to a similarly-priced Wrangler. It wasn't even a contest, the only Plus on the Jeep was a solid front axle. We couldn't even properly compare a Sahara to Outer Banks because Sahara is 4-door only.
Less power, less features, less safety, smaller tires, and it looks like every other Wrangler made in the last decade.

Good buy. Wow. Anyone who purchases a Wrangler when the Bronco is available is r-slurred.
Random aside: what trim/interior leather package is this? That brown full-grain is 🤤🤤🤤

Pre-production shenanigans. We have the closest option, roast brown with black. The steering wheel and center console are not color-matched on production
They made some shitty choices. Interior color options depends on the trim, then there is a fixed 'interior accent color' per trim (seen here is Blue for Outer Banks), then on 2-door you have the exterior paint visible in the front doors. If you have a red First Edition 2-door, you'll have orange highlights and a grey interior. Horrible combination. People had to b-word just to get Black as an option on First Edition.
This one is an Outer Banks as well (which also had Navy Blue as an option).
Big surprise, interior designers were foids

Man, that sucks. They showed off the most beautiful leather I've ever seen in a sub-$250k car (like seriously, the closest I've seen on a non-coachbuilt car is a $4000 option on Porsches and Ford basically said "whoopsies, we won't sell it lol"
Maybe I'm being neurodivergent about leather here, but look at that color variation! Doesn't it look like vegetable-tanned, like this from /r/leathercraft!?

Ended up going outside again today.
Better picture of the production brown, and at least it goes well with the green paint. Dashboard has a slight coppery hue on this trim too. Still nowhere near as good as the prepro

What an idiotic thing to say. Obviously you don't know anything about cars. The Wrangler is one of the most popular and iconic vehicles on the market, while the Bronco is overpriced and overhyped. Plus, the Wrangler has way more customization options, so you can make it look however you want. So please, enlighten us with your vast automotive knowledge and tell us why exactly the Bronco is better than the Wrangler. We're all dying to know.

God darn I’m out of the loop. i always thought wranglers were kind of cool and kinda wanted one, but I thought they would be like, 25k?

You should be right; they're worth no more than $25k MSRP. But the average new car price is now $47,000 and FCAU figured out they can get away with murder since it was the only car of its kind until the Ford Bronco finally came out, tacked on $10k because normies don't realize the Bronco exists yet.
Go configure one for yourself! (I do love these) https://www.jeep.com/bmo.wrangler.2022.html#/models/2022/wrangler

same, it's a fun clunker
I've been considering upgrading to a hybrid because of gas costs though, should I pull the trigger?

Yes pull the trigger.
Now concerning buying a hybrid to save on gas costs, I wouldn't because in the long term it really doesnt make financial sense when you factor in not just the upfront cost, but the extra cost of maintenance and potentially a battery replacement in the future. You can't bring it to any old mechanic if something goes wrong with the electric side even if you "break even" on the upfront cost eventually. Do your own calculations though because I'm too lazy to actually figure this shit out for you.

Probably those or Nissan Leafs. I've heard BMW i3s are the best deals (like, maybe of all cars, not just hybrids). If I was in the market, I'd look at those.
