I went for a drive and turned over 55555 miles!

I went to the middle of southeast Michigan to drive the old “magazine roads”. Back when all of the car magazines were based in Ann Arbor they would use the loop I drove to test cars. It pales in comparison to roads like Tail of the Dragon, but it'll do for only being 1.5 hours from my house.

Also I adjusted my pedals so the gas is even more dangerously close to the brake, but I can do perfect rev-matched downshifts while braking now.

This has been an /h/personal post. I'm bored and depressed.

God porsche dials are so sexy. Hows it been treating you? Any reason you went for the c4s over the cs? Have you driven an air-cooled 911 by chance? Im a big fan of air-cooled motors over liquid-cooled motors on bikes due to the charecter and im worndering if it carries over onto 4 wheels.

It's been pretty reliable for a 20 year old German car. The main issues have been little electronic things and trim pieces that break or deteriorate and cost hundreds a piece. That and tires but after having the dealer align it instead of an Indy it's been pretty even.

I had a 1967 912 and loved it but cashed out at the height of the aircooled bubble. Wish I still had it but the 996 is the perfect blend of old and new.

Sweet. Seems like pretty minor issues thatd pop up with any car of that age. Enjoy it in good health. :marseyjam:

:marseyshrug: To me, they literally look like plain jane dials from any 2000s car. Plastic rings in brushed aluminum color, white text in a standard font, black background, orange needles, and a Tamagatchi-inspired digital display in the same ugly orange as Nissan

Those rings are real metal. There's this trope that German cars use fake plastic for their wood and metal trims but I haven't been in a single one that wasn't the real material.

Look at that needle. The tasteful thickeness of it. The subtle off-white of the dial markings. Oh my god, it even has a DRO

You really dont need more. Imo the only better dashs are ferraris with the bright yellow central tach, aston with their tach and speedo going opposite ways and spyker and pagani's glitzy aluminum dashes.
