It's fricking Cancer! Just check the top sellers on Amazon and they all require you to use an app to generate a QR code to set up your camera. That app won't work unless you make an account handing over your email, phone number and sometimes even CC number
I've returned 3 so far for not being fit for purpose, one of them openly lying about the app requirement.

I had a security company set up mine and I pay them $165/quarter. It's because everything is in the cloud and I assume you're getting a service that will call the cops? The first week I had my system, I thought by entering the disable code it would stop the cops from coming. Didn't even realize it was going off because I opened a door and went outside. Came back in and heard it, but they call you to make sure everything is ok. Missed the call and then had a cop shining a spotlight into my windows a few minutes later and it freaked me the frick out. The good news is that I know cops around here take care of their white people and get here fast.
