security cam suggestion thread] Why do all security cameras now require you give them your phone (and sometimes CC) *just to set up the camera?*

It's fricking Cancer! Just check the top sellers on Amazon and they all require you to use an app to generate a QR code to set up your camera. That app won't work unless you make an account handing over your email, phone number and sometimes even CC number

I've returned 3 so far for not being fit for purpose, one of them openly lying about the app requirement.
