security cam suggestion thread] Why do all security cameras now require you give them your phone (and sometimes CC) just to set up the camera?

It's fricking Cancer! Just check the top sellers on Amazon and they all require you to use an app to generate a QR code to set up your camera. That app won't work unless you make an account handing over your email, phone number and sometimes even CC number

I've returned 3 so far for not being fit for purpose, one of them openly lying about the app requirement.
