you can also try googling “[insert location] ebird” and you can see what species people see commonly, and most recently. it works for towns, counties/provinces, even specific trails/hiking areas/preserves

i just don't reccomend using the “step by step ID” feature as it can be innacurate. i use it mainly for the audio recording, which will actively attempt to ID birds it hears as it hears them (and its quite accurate), or the Explore Birds section, which can tell you what species are in your area depending on time of year
