One of our samples is from a living person. The intern is uncomfortable with the fact that the sample is from a living person. Get the frick over it, we aren't working with patients so it doesn't matter. Prep the karyotype and FISH slides and send the remaining marrow down to TriCore or LabCorp. I don't give a frick that the patient is alive, this is a job and they need to do their job. They are in the wrong field if they think samples given is an issue. If I was the person doing the tap I would make that hip dry just to prove a point that we don't give a shit.

My only thought. It's consented to, it's not like most of our donors that said they'd donate 40-80 Years ago.

why did he get into a path field if he only wants to work with morts

Pretty sure he only did it because it looks great on a resume. Pretty sure he didn't realize the severity of the work since he's still a student. He needs to learn quickly because nobody else on our team cares and that's a base requirement to work in this field.

BIPOC needs to just go mortuary science then. it doesn't pay well but if that's all he can work with it's whatever

He'd probably b-word out after a year. He needs to go into a soft science. When I got my biochem degree, we dealt with live patients all the time in research. It's only a matter of time before he can't work with dead samples

The best samples are taken from patients without their consent anyway

The best samples are alive patients which makes for an annoying consent back and forth for lab work but thankfully I don't have to deal with that.
Actively replicating cancer cells provide more insight since we can force them into certain cell stages and observe what proteins and markers are used in a pseudo body. Cancer cells from dead bodies give shit results and are a major pain to deal with.

Who the heck knows. He's a biochem student that got accepted into a lymphoma team, no shit he was going to deal with live person tissue and marrow samples. He needs to get get out of the medical field ASAP if he can't even stand bone marrow when he isn't the one biopsing it.
