Going to be pseudoscientific but there's like multiple tiers of animals. First is Tier 0, your sabertooths, your mammoths, that every tribal can wipe out. Then you have your Tier 1, your lions and wolves that although tribes may not be able to extinct, proto-Industrial can. Tier 2 are more common non-threat commodity items that an industrial complex might threaten. Tier 3 are really common ones that are getting got. Rome was the first and only pre-English country to hit into Tier 2.

Ancient people loved hunting big predators to extinction, I think there were fricking lions all over southern Europe as well. Every decent sized predator except foxes were fricking hunted to extinction in the fricking British Isles.

I'm not British but go to Camden if you want something still in the fricking touristy area but not touristy, you can actually meet locals (not transplants) there. Soho during the fricking week after work so like 5-8pm is fricking great as well. Other than that do the fricking tourist shit, it can be pretty fun if you've never been before. Don't do the fricking Tower of London unless you care about Royal shit/British history though.
