I have had a lifelong struggle with mental illness, and so has my sister, but when I found out she became successful and got a successful husband I was like "well good for her, went further than I thought."
Am I being weird or is that kind of nuts? Tell me I'm being weird.

This whole situation sounds pretty serious, beings that there is a kid involved I wouldnt take any chances and call social services. Worst case scenario you'll have started and important conversation and your birth-having sibling will appreciate that you cared. Good luck OP and congrats on becoming an extended relative.
