sunday blogposting about my marsey. poll within!

good morning dramneurodivergents. i call upon you to decide the fate of my cat.

so about a year ago this feral cat showed up on my porch during a snowstorm. i started putting out food and fresh water for him and he made my porch his home for the winter. after about 6 months, sometime this spring, he let me pet him. about a month after that he started letting me pick him up. i then trapped his butt and got him fixed, chipped, and vaxxed. after that i started bringing him inside my house and taught him how to use a litter box. i still remember the first time he ever played with a toy it was so sweet :marseyhearts: :marseyplaying:

because he is still half feral i let him out every day and he disappears for up to two days at a time. this last time, he was gone for a week. this morning he came back wearing SOMEONE ELSE'S COLLAR! :#marseyslutshaming:

there is a phone number written on the collar in sharpie but it is smudged and i can't read it.

here is where the dilemma comes in. i recently bought a new house and am moving across the county and into town literally tomorrow. i have been worried about moving him already, since he's lived his whole life running wild where my current house is and he is like barely domesticated lol. i'm afraid that moving into town and into a house where he will be inside 24/7 will be very upsetting to him.

what should i do?

!biofoids !bumpkins someone ping animalposters i'm broke

I say keep him. If he was truly feral he wouldn't keep coming and returning to your house. He likes you and will definitely be happier and much safer and taken care of with you. I also used to have a former feral, and as she aged she stayed inside more and more often until she became a housecat. He will get used to the easy life quickly.

Oh also you can move this post to personal just by reporting it with "/h/personal"

Tie a note to the cstnappers onto the collar asking them to contact you

put your own collar on him with a note for the other people to call you.

or put up a post about him on local missing pet groups like facebook or nextdoor, or sign up on telephone poles.

or just fricking take him idk

but like yeah idk you're vaxxing and chipping this cat and what if the other people were doing the same thing lol

cat would be super vaxxed

either way it doesn't seem urgent so i wouldn't stress too much.

whether you take the cat or not, it seems like the cat is doing fine

I would be weary of moving him though, you move him and he gets out, he could run off bc he doesn't know where the frick he's at.

i'm really worried about him possibly escaping and getting lost. i thought about asking my friend to post on social media asking who else has adopted him because i don't have facebook. i also briefly considered the collar thing but i've already bought him multiple collars and he always slips out of them and loses them lol.

Yeah, I don't think there's a right answer. Either decision it sounds like the cat will be okay.

Just like.. if you're going to take him he 100% has to be a indoor cat and your cat... So be prepared for that if it's your decision.

It also sounds like it would be fine to leave him, since other people are taking care of him.
