I think the minimal part attaches to colour as well, where the less light absorbed the more minimal colour you have. If you add yellow lights and dark red paint to the minimalist interiors it might look fetch but people might sneed that you've ruined the aesthetic or say it's not minimalist.
Usually if you want to add colour it's a muted blue/green/yellow/beige shade
I like the Nordic style of adding super bright pieces to otherwise minimal spaces though, you might be into that

i've seen this decorating trend called “millennial gray”, i don't know why people try to make their house look as depressing and soulless as possible but i guess that's the in thing right now. a lot of super rich celebrities are decorating their house like this too.
i don't understand how people like living like this, their houses look like the waiting room at a doctor's office and the whole environment gives off those cold and sterile hospital room vibes. it's the type of house i could not truly relax in, like being on edge worried that the owner is gonna yell at me for getting a hair on the all white couches. also i've nooticed the type of people that own these houses can never chill either, wonder if it's related

Is this like in Boogie Nights when the camera man is asking for more lights and saying "I don't think people realize how much minimalism requires photographically" and William H. Macy explains that they said "minimalist" not "naturalist"?

I think it's a psychological thing, white color reflects light and makes the interior look more spacious, the opposite happens with dark colors

why would you want your place to look that spacious though when you're doing nothing with that space? does it reflect what is going on in their brain?
