Why? Because being a leader is a 24/7 skill and quality in a human being.
It helps you with your work life by being good at managing people and negotiating.
It makes you good at crowd control and managing groups of people by being able to take the lead in decision making processes.
It makes you good at home by being able to help your friends and family by giving them the correct pep talk at the right time.
It makes you good to yourself by being able to lead yourself towards a better life and being able to use your motivation skills on yourself to carry on doing the harder parts of life without breaking down.
Leadership is a great quality of life trait to have and develop to improve your quality of life in multiple spheres of life.
Think of yourself as a leader, start by leading yourself, and tell yourself what you need to do next, and then figure out the best way to make you do that thing.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.

Leadership can't be taught. You either have the ability to make other people listen to you or you don't. You have to be able to convince people you're on the same side while telling them things they don't want to hear.
I think taking charge of your own life and looking to lead by example is great advice for everyone though.

If you really believe in a concept like 'x human quality cannot be taught' you are unironically not well read on the subject. I am sorry.
I am not saying there isn't an intelligence limit that needs to be crossed to get there. I am saying once you cross the barrier its a whether you put in the time and energy for it or not issue.
If leadership was a natural quality then a 20 year old with no senate experience could be president.

Alexander the Great took over as a teenager and was dead around 30. I absolutely believe this.
It's not intelligence (or at least that's not the most likely limiting factor) it's disposition. People that can't stand being disliked can't lead because they get walked all over. Other people just get off on the power, and they generally make poor decisions and are unable to motivate. It takes a personality not a set of learnable skills.

im literally screaming, Finding one name over the course of 2000 years made you a true believer in your theory???
A personality is a set of learnable skills, and Otherwise an alcoholic could never become sober and a drug addict could never be clean, and Behaviors can be altered with effort, and Outer appearances even more easily so but go off
I am not denying the impact of genetic predispositions however

Most fail. The fact that some manage to succeed can easily be explained by them being at the margin/ border between alcoholic/non-alcoholic in terms of personality traits.

I disagree.
Trauma and strong emotion induced behavioral changes have happened often enough.
