The first few times it takes hours of restlessness in bed to fall asleep. You have to struggle against the urge to touch your phone and you are lying in bed waiting for hours because your body is only used to falling asleep when it is running on zero battery.
After a while of continuing that struggle however, yesterday I fell asleep easier than before.
Which gives a confirmation that as long as you stick to it the sleeping process gets easier over time.
The trick to getting out of bed during cold days:
1. Don't pull off the bed sheets at once
2. Wake up in stages
3. Most people fail to get up after hearing their alarm as it's too cold and they go back to sleep
4. The trick is to get up in stages.
5. From sleep position move to a human loaf position in bed. Keep head down and eyes closed and rested. Hold it for a few minutes where you are both comfortable but also not in a fall asleep position.
6. From loaf position move to a crouch position. This way you have made your body position slightly more uncomfortable but it still holds and you are a bit more awake now.
7. Pull away your bedsheets just a little bit. Not enough to feel the full force of the cold, but enough to let more of the cold in for your body to adapt to.
8. After a few minutes you should still feel colder outside, but now you should be able to step out without traumatizing your body into morning avoidance mode, and go about with your day.
That's the trick. You got to let your body warm up to the day in little stages so the gap between snug and comfy and sleepy to suddenly cold and freezing and awake isn't as big.
Going to work hard today.
Good luck to you and good luck to me.
