Rome Vacay update! :marseycheers2: :marseymarmotroman:

At the airport in Rome rn.

Bathrooms are pretty sweet. No handles or faucets at any sinks just motion sensors to shoot out soap, water and blow dry at the same sink.

That's all for now! :marseybeachtowel:

How do you tell an Italian and a Gypsy apart though?

@MayflyACK-98 if you think :marseyhyperthonk: this is a joke, it genuinely isn't and is actually :marseynerd3: legitimately good advice, idk if you read my previous comment :marseysoypointdubz: on your other post, but the strategy is to NOT look them in the eyes and walk away

A good strategy is to say no thanks and keep walking. Keep walking is the key point, as soon as you stop they've got you. It works on anyone from charity workers to beggars to gypsies

No, do not say no thanks, they're looking :marseyoperasmug: for tourists and if you reply in english, regardless of what you say, instead of just not replying, there's a much greater chance of them hounding you

I've actually :marseynerd3: had some pretty :marseyglam: friendly encounters when I'm waiting :marseysad: for something or someone and I reply in Italian, often they're surprised :marseypikachu2: and start acting friendly and not beg because they know that you know, but even then there's a chance (albeit significantly smaller) that they'll still ask for money :marseyfry:

If you ignore them though that pisses people off and the last thing I want to spend my time on is a fight with some random homeless schizo. I say sorry once and then just keep going.

No you don't understand they aren't random :marseycitrusshrug: beggars and they're definitely not schizos, they won't get offended if you ignore :marseyerasure: them, they specifically walk up to and ask questions that have nothing to do with begging, they ask in english :marseymaltliquor: because they actively seek out tourists, especially americans

I'm fairly :marseytimmy: confident :marseysmug4: that this specific way of doing it is exclusive to Italy :marseygodfather:

Gypsies on the other hand 95%+ of the time are either sitting :marseyliquid: on a sidewalk begging, often with some bullshit :marseyitsallsotiresome: sob story, or they're pickpockets

Pickpockets come in all races though
