We used to raise ours in the half bathroom at my childhood ranch. There are good stabilizer clamps holding the bulb securely, I assure you that. We have done this so many times, not without a couple losses, but the bulbs are used only temporarily. They are already being exposed to people and the main grazing enclosure. I appreciate your concern
I thought the red was the only kind, my mom went to the feed store for both the chicks and some last minute supplies while I watched over things. I wasn't there to see what was for sale, and these are her chickens, I just visit a lot to work there. My house is in the city so no chickens or precious quail for me

I still dont get the red light lol its impossible to see in there
we just use a 60watt bulb really close to them so as to not burn the house down

they make heat lamps that arent' red though I just don't get that I'd rather be able to see the birds
