Frick, that looks way cooler than I expected. I'm really jealous of people who get to see it. Also stupid question, but how dark does it get? I guess it's not black of night, but is it noticeable? How does it compare to say an overcast day?
I can't say it was pitchblack but it got very, very close to the darkness of night time for several minutes, it's hard to say because of light pollution. It started looking overcast about 15 minutes before totality and 3-5 minutes before it got very dark like during a storm. It was interesting how quickly it went to very dark to totally dark, just a couple of seconds.
It was interesting amd glad I saw but it isn't something I would have traveled for like a lot of people did.
Nah I don't know what you're on about, that sounds rad as heck. I only ever saw 1 eclipse and it was partial, very noticeably so. Considering how overcast it can get here it was practically unnoticeable- it didn't get any dimmer and the moon itself was hard to see due to brightness of the uncovered part of the sun. And then it was over 30 seconds later. Extremely anticlimactic.
It bothers me to no end that I live too far north to see eclipses but too far south to see auroras
would've been cool to get out into the country, I watched from the park and all the lights automatically came on for a minute so it's too bad I didn't get to see how dark it really was
