Some butterflies of the year so far

Swallowtails really really love my rhododendrons. I counted about a dozen of them working four plants at one a few weeks ago.

I expect some monarchs soon, I see a couple eggs on some milkweeds. The black and blue butterflies I'm looking forward to this year, some of them are very cobalt.

I don't get enough butterflies in my garden. I've planted a bunch of stuff to try and attract them, along with hummingbirds and bees, but I've only seen a couple so far this year.

Depending on where you are the season might have been delayed a bit bc of where we are in social cycle 25. a lot of my plants that come out by Memorial Day have bloomed around now so the bugs come with them

their huge wings is why their so fast ironically

Ya they fast and super light. Much lighter than the fritillaries I normally have all over the yard. The difference must be in microns but you can feel it when they land on your hand or shirt

Butterflies love white tshirts btw. If you're not a sweaty person the will often land and on white fabrics to rest

rhododendrons are so gorgeous, my mom planted them and lilac trees by our backdoor it was so lovely and the smell :marseysniff: they need to invent a cherry blossom that blooms all year
