I'm abroad and I broke my phone so no dramaposting and dramareading for me until 31'st (this may kill me, and will renender me oblivious to all world events).
Also, this exact thing happened to my previous phone while visiting the exact same country last year to my. Turns out being "extra careful this time" does not actually prevent the phone from breaking like a case would, who would have thunk.

I'm gonna ping you on my post about Trads in the next week and you better read it punk. It's true that nearly all Scholastics accepted that framework, but it has never been dogmatic even in the height of Catholic philosophical reaction c. 1870-1940.
I'm actually getting a formal degree in philosophy rn and while I hope to be long gone by the time I finish maybe we'll exchange emails someday so I can tell you whether I accept or reject Aristotle/Aquinas.

The dogma of transubstantiation is described using the terms of Aristotelian metaphysics, and whenever someone tries to describe it not with Aristotelian terms, it is rejected as a heresy, forexample https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transignification. It is very clearly based on Aristotelian metaphysics in such a strong way that you are not allowed leave those Aristotelian concepts out.

For whatever it's worth to you I'm genuinely investigating this topic a few hours or more a week in reading. The term predated Aquinas/Trent, Catholics have accepted communion with Eastern Churches who do not accept St. Aquinas as dogma. My genuine understanding is that it's not a binding teaching on anyone. The issue with "transignification" or "real presence" type language is that it denies the body and blood components. How that happens has not been made dogma, just that it does.
