Like the title says. My friends all got ebikes but I just cant afford the few hundred dollars on a whim. I didn't want to be left out of our group rides so I rattlecanned an old trek black and taped some plastic to the frame that kind of looks like a battery pack.
I've been hitting the spin bike a lot more and making humming sounds when we go ride but I'm not sure how long I can keep this up. I almost got dropped last week after they unrestricted the speed controller, and they're planning a really hilly brevette for this weekend. I'm not sure what to do

You can get an ebike kit for an ordinary bike.
I bought one of these https://www.swytchbike.com/ but there are chinese kits on amazon I would do if I had more time, like these: https://www.amazon.com/PEXMOR-Electric-Conversion-Controller-Throttle/dp/B0BVM3J5KD
Edit: Oh shit I just learned they have engine kits for like $100. Shoulda done that, that would have been so cool.

Get a BBSHD and a battery if you can fit it. Did a conversion with one, and it was a lot of fun. Got my bike up to 40mph on a slight downhill

Are BBSHD's all 1000W? That's crazy.

I know you can make a battery kit with 18650s but you need a special spot welder. /r/18650masterrace is my new favorite subreddit
