In addition to St. Francis of Assisi, St. Gertrude of Nevilles has a special patronage for our feline friends:

There's no single story that links St. Gertrude to her patronage of cats. However, writings confirm that she and her nuns kept cats to control the rodent population. Some people believe her patronage most likely originated from the claim that water from her well and bread baked in her oven were thought to repel mice and rats. (And I thought I was a bad cook!)

Other accounts say she prayed for the mice to go away and they did. Because of the great mouse exodus, people referred to her as the patroness of cat lovers. She is often depicted with a cat near her or with mice running up her staff. The mice in her icons are said to represent souls trapped in Purgatory, whom she diligently prayed for. And we ailurophiles know that cats and mice go together like saints and heaven.

I will continue to pray for your family. :marseyconcerned: :marseypraying:

I know how hard it can be, my childhood dog was diagnosed with Addison's disease and very nearly passed away before getting her diagnosis. With simple steroids she grew back to be stronk :marseystrong: and lived to a ripe old age of 16. I hope that this too will pass for your beloved.

They'll call me if they need to overnight her. She's in pain likely stemming from her uterus. She has been medicated and is in line to soon get an ultrasound.

I wouldn't panic. It's probably just like all the times when you've been sick and needed to stay in bed and feel bad for a couple days and then you get over it. The cat just can't say that to you.

Thanks for the update. Sheila's a trooper. I'm sure she's exhausted. How're the kittens without momma cat around?

I'm with them and have had to revert to bottle-feeding every 2 hours just so the kittens are definitely getting what they need. But they get so lonely even when i leave to grab some water or something... this is truly a nightmare of a day for us

I'll rest once she has shown signs of recovery. I'm used to having sleep debts.
